A native of New Orleans, Troy Newman, M.D. is a board certified, fellowship trained glaucoma and anterior segment surgeon.
Dr. Newman attended Louisiana State University, where he received his Undergraduate degree in 1995, and his Doctor of Medicine degree in 2003. He completed his internship in Internal Medicine and residency in Ophthalmology at The University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, and his Glaucoma Fellowship at The University of Alabama-Birmingham.
Dr. Newman began his career in private practice for nine years before moving with his family to Kenya in 2016, where they served together at Tenwek Mission Hospital for two years. Upon returning to the U.S. in 2018, Dr. Newman joined the faculty at UMMC. He and his wife, also an Ophthalmologist, share a passion for international travel and medical missions. They have been blessed with four children who keep them very busy.
